Assessment - Early Literacy
DYNAMIC INDICATORS OF BASIC EARLY LITERACY SKILLS, University of Oregon - A set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy development, designed as one-minute fluency measures to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early reading skills. DIBELS was developed upon the early literacy domains discussed in the National Reading Panel (2000) and National Research Council (1998) reports, in order to assess student development of phonological awareness, alphabetic understanding, and automaticity and fluency within the code. Each measure has demonstrated to be a reliable and valid indicator of early literacy development and predictive of later reading proficiency. The DIBELS measures are free to download and use. A Spanish version is available: Indicadores dinámicos del éxito en la lectura 6ta Edición (IDEL).
